Double Embossing With Cuttlebug

I have been trying to get some use out of my  various cuttlebug embossing folders.  Here is a simple card using  one of my lesser-used folders.

Repurposing “Stuff” as Stamping Tools- Great Yard Sale Finds!

I wanted to share my latest “happy accidents” which came in the form of two great yard sale finds.

I really enjoy using the Tim Holtz ink applicators to apply ink to “stuff” ( paper, chipboard, flowers etc).  I also like to keep an applicator for each color family I use- e.g. blues greens, reds, etc an in some cases  I further divide the color family such as one applicator for light blues and one for dark blues.  Unfortunately  wanting to have so many different applicators on hand can get pricey.

The original:

Lucky for me, I found some traditional office stamp handles that I can use as a substitute:

It was easy to tear off the piece of rubber that was on the bottom.  I took a piece of foam and used glossy accents to adhere it to the bottom of the stamp.  It took less than a minute.   It dried nice and securely and is ready to ink up!  Check it out:

I also found a lucite holder that  I picked up thinking that I could use it to store my Ranger mini-misters.  Works PERFECTLY for that and also holds pens, too!  I love these yard sale finds!

Review of Dylusions Spray Inks

I really like the effects that can be created with spray inks.  I recently saw a video about a new line of Ranger spray inks called Dylusions.  They are dye based inks that promise really vibrant colors.  I recently purchased two colors just to see what they look like and whether I like them. I also wanted to compare them to some of the other inks I already own such as Ranger Adirondack Color Wash Spray and Glimmer Mist.  Here is my review:

Thanks for looking!

WOYWW #151

It is What’ On Your Workdesk Wednesday- officially No. #151  but #1 for me- It is my first WOYWW post!  I love the concept so  I am going to try to participate consistently.  ( Check it out here:  WOYWW ).  Here is my desk:

A bunch of stuff on my desk as usual.  My desk  is usually a reflection of the several different concepts  I have going on at once.  I am trying to get better at mixing colors in paint so Color Mixing Recipes is designed to help.  I picked up the Thanks You stamps by Inkadinkadoo recently at T.J. Maxx.  The dress card is a work in progress.  The purple dress from was just coated with glossy accents and I was waiting for it to dry. The Twist and Glue by UHU is one of my favorite adhesives.  The Thank You card  in the corner is for my mom and will be mailed tomorrow.  The photo also shows a bit of what  I think is a lucite lipstick holder.  I picked it up at a yard sale hoping it would work for mini-misters.  It does- perfectly!  It also is a great holder for sharpies. I also bought the rubber stamp that is in the picture ( next to the thank you card) at the same yard sale.  I wanted to see if it would work as a substitute for the Ranger Tim Holtz ink applicators- it is!  The starfish has been making its way to the sand jar in the guest room forever.  I just cant seem to get it there.  Thanks for checking out my desk!
